Description of Incident: King Charles spaniel, Dorothy, passed away while waiting departure of delayed flight.

Cause of Incident: A delay was incurred for a nonrelated mechanical issue. The condition of the pet was checked by both the ground and flight crews and appeared to be sedated but alive. As of the report date, the autopsy results have not been received and the cause of death is unknown.

Corrective Action Taken: Corrective action will be developed upon conclusion of investigation.
